A competency development programme with ITD involves the design and implementation of a competency framework as a useful tool.

The competency development programme is designed based around your business needs and how it will be practically used.

A competency development programme is very useful for giving employees clear guidance on what is expected in their current and possible future roles. It can be used as a basis for designing training, developing interview questions, create role hierarchies and for performance management.

We have a competency framework template which we can use as a starting point or we can design the whole programme.

A typical competency development programme would have input from the business units to help define outstanding performance – upon which competencies could be based.

* Decide on whether to draft bespoke competencies or use itd’s competency framework and dictionary
* Define job families and roles
* Workshops / discussions with key stakeholders to select competencies for each role and choose the level of each competency
* Review of first draft
* Use of competencies for 6 months – 1 yr
* Review & redrafting
