Leadership Skills
What is Leadership for Associates?
As a lawyer advances in their career the responsibility for taking on leadership increases.
In this way leadership can be defined as demonstrating the behaviours of someone who gives clear direction; gives time; is decisive; listens and above all gives those around them a clear understanding of the way in which they prefer to work.
Leadership is about what a practice team is going to do and about how they are going to do it.
Practical sessions based on the participants situations
The exploration of what leadership is and how it is relevant for associates is carried out within a context of real situations. Participants are encouraged to bring to the workshop actual issues and situations they would like to discuss within the context of leadership.
The ITD approach
The ITD approach to leadership for lawyers is not to tell them what to do, but to help them to discover for themselves. To give ideas and suggest approaches but to discuss these not to present them as the only way. The ITD approach is consultative and discussion based.
