Finance for Non Finance
Why do law firms need to train business services staff on finance?
1. Because any budget holder needs an overall appreciation of the importance of accurate budgeting
2. Because budget holders need to understand financial terms and how they play a part in it
3. Because some people need an overview of finances to motivate them act in their sphere of influence
Making finance fun - the ITD approach
This can be a very dull subject for those of us not excited by the words accruals, or budget codes
That's why we have designed a simple and fun game to bring all these exciting ideas to life. Through the session every 20 minutes or so we take time to enter the game, which is competitive with participants pitched against each other, has specific objectives dependant on your needs and allows the participants to put financial terms into practice.
CASE STUDY
A firm contacted us with a need to develop financial awareness in one level of the business services team.
There were two pressing needs:
1. Develop awareness of the importance of financial management in the firm
2. To understand the importance of accurate budgeting
We discussed these needs with the trainng department and the finance manager.
We designed a half day workshop based on the ITD business game. This business game makes the session fun, interactive and a potentially dry subject come to life.
The training was reviewed by the finance manager who also co-facilitated to answer any specific firm finance questions which arose.
The workshops gained great feedback and achieved the objectives and more.
This development of finance training can be totally adapted and designed according to the needs of your firm..
